Study on the Influential Factors of CO2 Storage in Low Permeability Reservoir

As the demands of tight-oil Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and controlling anthropogenic carbon emission have become global challenges, Carbon Capture Utilization Sequestration (CCUS) has been recognized as an effective solution to resolve both needs. However, influential factors dioxide (CO2) geological storage in low permeability reservoirs not fully studied. Based on core samples from Huang-3 area Ordos Basin, feasibility CO2 sequestration are analyzed through caprock breakthrough tests a factor experiment. The results indicate that capillary trapping is key mechanism sealing effect by caprock. With increase permeability, pressure difference decreased rapidly. A good exponential relationship between can be summarized. minimum 22 MPa, gradient greater than 100 MPa/m. suitable for CO2, risk small. At same percentage, recovery crude oil larger higher, percentage decreases with factor. It turned out reservoir easier store miscible phase immiscible phase. This study provide empirical reference selection safety evaluation within Basin.
